Ming Heung Tea Co. opened its doors in July 1963 on Carpenter Road in Kowloon City, Hong Kong, specializing in premium Chinese teas.

In 1965, the main store moved to Kowloon City Road, To Kwa Wan, and in 1973, we relocated to our current location on Hau Wong Road, Kowloon City.

In the 1960s, we combined the traditional art of Kung Fu tea with the expertise of Tie Guan Yin tea masters, leading to our renowned charcoal-roasted Chaozhou Kung Fu tea. The unique "Duitou" blend, known locally as the "Ming Heung Flavor," gained popularity among Chaozhou tea lovers. Our charcoal stove has been in continuous use for over sixty years, and our reputation grew, attracting recognition from Chinese communities in Thailand, Vietnam, and other Southeast Asian regions.

In the 1970s, our Oolong tea, Tie Guan Yin, and Wuyi Shuixian were shipped to Taiwan, stirring nostalgia among the Taiwanese diaspora. The high demand and inability to import directly led to supply shortages.

The 1980s saw a surge in the popularity of Oolong tea in Japan, with every part of the tea plant—from branches to leaves—being in high demand. This period marked a golden era for Oolong tea, especially Tie Guan Yin. Our tea house had to operate 24/7 to meet orders from Japan. Under the guidance of experienced tea merchants, we also focused on the aging characteristics of Pu'er tea, known for improving with age. Since the mid-1980s, we have established our own warehouse for professional dry storage and processing.

In the early 1990s, we built a tea factory in Anxi, Fujian, the origin of Tie Guan Yin, purchasing raw Maocha tea(毛茶)directly from tea farmers. The tea was carefully selected and transported to Hong Kong, ensuring both supply and quality. We also formed a close relationship with tea masters in Wuyi Mountain, Northern Fujian, discovering the benefits of aging Wuyi Rock Tea.

In 1992, we successfully developed "Bao Bao Tea" - known for its rich and smooth taste without causing cold or heat imbalances. It became popular among office workers and women for its health and slimming benefits.

Since the turn of the millennium, traditional strong-flavored Tie Guan Yin sales have declined, giving way to lightly fermented fragrant Oolong tea. With over sixty years of experience, our deep and rich aged Pu'er tea from Yunnan has gained increasing popularity. We leverage our expertise to select authentic Yunnan large-leaf species and spring buds to produce our own Pu'er tea cakes. We urge customers to look for the " Ming Heung Tea Co." Yulan trademark to ensure authenticity.
